Village and Temple Walk – Khaniyara & Aghanjar Shiva Temple

Overview:

“The soul of India lives in its villages well said by Mr. Gandhi. Being in to tourism and being a naturalist i had got best of experience in to the villages while travelling. I must tell while on a travel trip one should must visit the local villages to understand local lifestyle, experience food and enjoy nature. Being a resident of Himalayas has visited our nearby villages for Hikes, Cycling, Birding, weddings and other social festivals which is the heritage of our Mountains and I have a bucket of such heritage which I would love to share with travelers to our regions. We organize various Cycling tours, Village Walks and Home Stays to enjoy the Cultural, Natural and Social Heritage of our villages.

Itinerary:

After early breakfast we take a cab to Kandi village and start our walk to reach Patola Ground and then to Khaniyara Village. Taking a short Tea break at Khaniyara we again walk to Khadota Mata Temple. This part of walk compromises of a trail which passes through a dense Pine and cedar. Khadota is located at a hill top from where we get a nice view of Dharamsala city and Khaniyara valley.

After spending some healthy time at Khadota we begin our downhill walk to reach Aghanjar Mahadev Temple.(The Temple has a 7000 year old Mythical History)  A cold water stream of Manghi flows along side the Temple which is of great attraction and one can have a dip into the snowfed water for a great relaxation. Charity food is available at Aghanjar temple between 12.30 to 16.00 Hours. One  can have Lunch at the Temple and then return to Mcleodganj either by a  private cab or public transport.
