PACKAGE DETAILS

This route takes you beyond the very popular (and over-crowded) Ladakh region in the Himalayas. We do not want to be riding our machines like an ant-trail on the winding mountain roads. The Himalayas are way beyond the repeated photographs of the same lake or the (believed) highest motor-able pass. Himalayas are about exploring the hidden secrets of the mountains. Himalayas are about venturing out into the unknown; more about seeking out for places that are ‘not’ on the tourist map!

Our thought behind this route is the unique ‘Figure of 8’ meticulously chosen that not only saves us from all the crowd when we go probing the hidden Pangi valley but also takes us to the magical Spiti valley that easily matches Ladakh in its grandeur, if not overtakes

Our route takes you beyond the ‘regular’ or ‘popular’ Trans-Himalayan rides. Our signature ‘Figure of 8’ route consists of two legs; first the exploratory when we are completely fresh and second to the breathtaking Kinnaur – Spiti circuit.

Both the legs have been meticulously designed to take up the best routes and halts and as you’ll ride with us; unlike others, we ensure that you have an authentic local feel and experience of the area. All are motorcycling tours are not only adventurous but also immersive where from time to time, we visit and stay with the local families, at least once a traditional meal is arranged for to add to the local flavour, and in one evening a surprise local cultural performance is staged to connect more with the local heritage. We also put up our riders as a helping hand to the local community so that benefits of the tour can be shared with the locals directly; this way you share theirs and craft your own memorable stories.

On bikes, we visit the Kullu valley, then the Naggar castle and the Naggar temple that were built in the 10th century. On the way back, we ride through rustic villages with an exotic view. Night at a comfortable and welcoming guest-house.

Day 3: Manali- Dharamshala (240 Kms / 8 Hours)

After early breakfast, we flag off our journey from our hotel in Manali. Today we go testing ourselves in the best roads of the journey. We drive along the National Highway and cross the town of Kullu and Mandi to enter into the Kangra valley.

Once we enter the historic Kangra region, we leave the major roads from the town of Palampur and drive through the tea gardens and reach McLeodganj (Dharamsala), the place which is globally important for being seat for Tibetan Government in-exile and also home to His Holiness Dalai Lama. Overnight at our Tibetan-styled hotel.

Day 4: Dharamshala - Chamba (140 kms/ 5 Hours)

After breakfast, we drive through numerous Himalayan villages and towns to reach the Chamba valley. As we keep on driving, the settlement start to thin out.

By late afternoon, we reach the town of Chamba which is a 1000 years old historic town along the river Ravi. It is also the last major town of our first leg of the journey. Check in-to your hotel in Chamba and rest well

Day 5: Chamba to Satrundi

After early breakfast, we depart from Chamba. As we move away from the town, we get the first glimpse of the challenge lying ahead. The road starts to narrow down and become bumpy. Though this day is fairly easy in comparison to the roads that we hit tomorrow.

This will be a good practice round. We reach Satrundi which a grassy patch. The mountain slopes are full of wild flowers of every hue. Overnight stay in a camp.

Day 6: Satrundi - Killer via sach pass ( 110kms/ 5 Hours)

This is the most challenging and thrilling part of the journey. At places the road is almost non-existent. Lot of mental concentration is required here. You will know why Sach pass is the ultimate challenge for any motorcyclist. As you move further from Satrundi the road starts to disappear. The gradient increases and we reach the mighty Sach Pass (4420m.) at about noon.

On the other side, there is a steep descent till a place called Bagoti Nallah. There is rock and scree on the road, and huge snow walls on both sides of the road at some places. It is an achievement in itself as this route is travelled by a few rough guys. Then after a while, the slope becomes gradual and you get a wonderful view of the Pangi valley. This is a beautiful hidden secret of the Himalayas which not many know about. The main town is Killar and roads are better here. Stay at Killar.

Day 7: Killer - keylong (130Kms/ 7 Hours)

The good roads are again gone! The trail is no more Tarmac. It’s all rock, dust and scree from here. There is the ultimate factor of thrill on this ride. There are huge rocky overhangs and at some places there are long vertical cliffs at the edge of the roads. The landscape keeps getting drier as you start nearing Lahaul valley. This stretch is a motorcyclists’ delight, as it offers the fatigue element. Although, the distance is not too much, but you need a good amount of concentration to keep the motorbike stable all through the journey.

Once we reach Udaipur, the road starts to get better. Further ride of around 2 hours will join us at the Manali – Leh highway. Stay at Guest House / Camps at Keylong.

Day 8: Keylong - Manali via Rohtang pass (120 Kms/ 5 Hours)

Last stage of the first leg, it is a short but definitely worth experiencing! We cross the famous Rohtang Pass (3,980m.) which literally stands for ‘pile of dead bodies’ in the local dialect.

Early departure southwards to Manali. Night spent in a comfortable hotel in Manali.

Day 9: Manali rest and Old Town visit

We end our first leg in Manali and make a gear / machine check and also rest well before the start of the second leg that takes us to the magic land of Spiti. We can also go exploring the old town of Manali.

Rest well before the ride starting again tomorrow morning.

You will feel the transition as you will reach a coniferous zone.
